Federal Minister of Commerce meets Bangladeshi Industry Advisor, agrees to increase industrial cooperation

Dhaka, Bangladesh, August 21, 2025

Federal Minister for Commerce, Jam Kamal Khan, met with Bangladesh’s Adviser on Industry, Adilur Rehman Khan in Dhaka today. The meeting discussed various aspects of bilateral industrial cooperation, investment and trade promotion. Pakistan’s High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Mr. Imran Haider, was also present on the occasion.

During the meeting, both leaders emphasized that Pakistan and Bangladesh should utilize their industrial and economic capabilities for mutual benefit. Food security, food value addition and industrial technology exchange were highlighted as key areas. The two countries also agreed to share knowledge and experiences through exchanges of experts and delegations.

Federal Minister for Commerce Jam Kamal Khan said that Pakistan is looking for cooperation, joint ventures and investment in the industrial sector of Bangladesh. He said that both countries must create a conducive economic environment under a shared vision that will help in industrial development. He appreciated Bangladesh’s significant achievements in the pharmaceutical, textile, and IT sectors.

The Bangladeshi Industry Advisor highlighted his country’s industrial development and growing needs and expressed keen interest in cooperation with Pakistan. He identified the leather industry, shipbuilding, sugar industry, agro-processing, and SMEs as potential areas of cooperation.

At the end of the meeting, both sides reiterated their commitment to further promote bilateral trade and industrial development through joint efforts.
