Islamabad, September 7, 2023:

Federal Minister for Commerce, Dr. Gohar Ejaz, hosted a productive meeting with H.E. Mr. Atadjan Movlamov, the esteemed Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Pakistan. The high-level discussions took place today at the Ministry of Commerce and covered a wide range of areas.

Turkmenistan expressed its keen interest in collaborating with Pakistan on various fronts. The Ambassador also invited Pakistan to participate in the development of their ambitious smart city project named ‘Arkadag’, worth $5 billion. Pakistan can play a pivotal role by exporting construction materials and goods to support this monumental endeavor.

Ambassador Atadjan Movlamov emphasized Turkmenistan’s need for agricultural products from Pakistan, including rice, sugar, potatoes, and onions. Dr. Gohar Ejaz reciprocated this interest, underlining Pakistan’s commitment to open trade channels and the importance of fostering strong business-to-business (B2B) links. Both leaders stressed the significance of enhancing mutual understanding and cooperation to bolster trade relations between the two countries.

Highlighting the importance of trade routes, Ambassador Movlamov pointed out that many trade corridors circumvent Pakistan rather than passing through it.
