Mr. Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, the Federal Minister for commerce was born on 27 December, 1958. He is graduated in Engineering from the University of California, and completed Master Degree in Engineering from George Washington University in the year 1982. Mr. Shahid Khaqan Abbasi worked as a professional Engineer in the U.S and Middle East during the decade of 80’s.

From 1997 to 1999, he remained the Chairman and chief executive officer of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), and remained the chief executive officer of Airblue from 2003, to 2007.

On political side, the honorable Minister has elected to the National Assembly of Pakistan six times since 1988 elections. From 1990 to 1993, he performed his duties as the chairman of National Assembly Standing Committee on Defense.
